Inspiration

Savor The Magic

Opening my eyes

On a bright spring day

I was taken by surprise

It was joy, one could say

A sign

A lightness of being

An unanticipated high

A feeling that was freeing

I must commit this, I nod

Its tempo, its meaning

I begin to run

Feet up in the air

Then an urge to shout out

Surpassing goals

And away I tear

The stars are aligned

And my body too

Let’s take it on

And challenge

what we can do

The day unfolds

Good fortune multiplies

Conversation with family

Opportunities arise

I commit to memory

This gift of time

Reflect upon its magic

When days are less a stroll

And more a climb

They took each other’s hands

Fell into each other’s arms

And danced out onto the open plain

As Joy filled the air with charm

They laughed and smiled as if the first

Dancing without a care

Catching each other’s eyes upon a glance

Wind blowing through the air

No one could predict such a meeting

Serendipitous yet not by surprise

As through the years, they kept a tie

Though free to live out, not rationalize

And so they dance

She sees it clearly

And feels it too

As she listens to the music

And is carried along

Words she cannot yet speak

She can put into words

The dance she sees

She sees,

they are home

A field of grass with the sun shining in the background.

The Wind Blows

The Wind blows

The branches sway

Leaves flow from side to side

This is my peace

My special place

Content in life

God, the universe, and me

My spirit flows

Creative, sensing, expressing

That which drives meaning

Gives life and brings laughter

No worry, nor flight

Happy as one

Where life has brought me to be

Determination and joyfulness

My family, my foundation

And friends, the village, three

My community, without boundaries

As deep and wide

As the sea

Acknowledge and nod

To things beyond our control

Look to the horizon, all that it holds

We are our thoughts in action

Be they productive and kind

Release that which does not serve you

Renew, realign

A sunset over the ocean with trees in front of it.

Remarkable

Labels are placed, may even last

Some contribute, others recast

The canvas upon which I plan my day

Filters out the doubt, discards the gray——-

It welcomes new, no boundaries met

No labels defined, expectations set

To aid, assist, pull from behind

Focus on remarkable

A vision

an open mind

Three hours pass, I check my notes

Allowance eases the creep in scope

And so I continue along my way

Spurred on by accomplishment

Deviations I probe

Introductions and connections

Assist two-fold

May benefit me

But others more so

That is my core, a guiding ligh

Support the other

And your future’s bright

Leave misgivings to the past

Look to the horizon

A medley of contrasts

Embrace diversity of people and chance

And remain alert to the remarkable

It’s often passed

A forest with trees and snow on the ground.

Winter's Gift

Long shadows of winter

Linger to give life a rest

Energies are directed inward

For day light doesn’t last

The green and warmth of months ahead

Are mindful illusions often cast

Though open minds will surely see

Disquiet may be a reflection

Of the past

In the quiet of the day

When silence takes rein

A break within the clouds

No day is the same

Rays of sun flood my room

In angles seen once a year

Thought, wonder, and imagination appear

With the change of the seasons

Different activities arise

They vary by setting, practicality aside

Instead of the garden we tend in the sun

Winter leads us to tasks found indoors

Otherwise left undone

So our view has broadened

Contextualized by this moment in time

Nature in all its beauty

Has brightened our path

Setting word to rhyme

A light bulb hanging from the side of a wire.

What if

What if

For just one day

And for all of society

There was no profiling

Each individual is unique

And everyone respected

Nothing to separate us

While families carry-on

Children attend school

Without fear of gunfire

And employees find purpose

In their daily routine

What if

Instead of closing oneself off

From the world around

To monitor social media

We help the elderly man

Pack his groceries

Smile at fellow pedestrians

Some of which wear frowns

Because life isn’t what it should be

That smile could make their day a bit brighter

And provide them with the sense

That humanity is truly caring

What if

For one week

Instead of ordering our morning coffee

We gave to our favorite charity

A small adjustment

For the people that it would impact

Business could contribute

Everyone benefits

Charities provide enhanced services

Those donating experience gratitude

And recipients’ well-being is broadened

What a difference that would make

What if?

Acts of kindness

Of any kind, sort and value

Give hope, wipe away tears

Begets further acts of kindness

So little effort, so much impact

What if?

We just gave one hour

coffee proceeds

A smile

What a difference it could make

A painting of the sun with blue sky in background.

Creativity

A thought, a word

A song, a chord

Imagined or real

It springs to life—–

A path unknown

Fueled by your core

It takes on meaning

Takes shape and more

It greets you

By chance

At times, an invitation

A gift, a journey

Waiting to be explored

Its form may change

Agility Is key

It has a life

We cannot always see

Embrace the moment

Lay down what’s at hand

And follow this opportunity

Where will it land

It refreshes the day

Brings newness to heart

Stirs up the old

Provides a fresh start

Creativity resides within us

Simply waiting to spark

Ignite and set free

An unknown trajectory

Art, music, landscape

Crayons and more

Give flight to ideas

Open up, and restore

A man riding on the back of a bicycle.

Take the Trip

When the stars align

And I get the promotion

We move into a bigger house

And the kids go off to school

That’s when we will

Travel

Spend more time with family

Plant the garden

Fix the bike

But life doesn’t wait

The promotion is delayed

A larger house is not in the budget

And the kids are now off to school

Distracted by time and space

Time has been squandered

It happens, we say

It’s just another day

And then a life-changing event

Lands at our feet

Our routine, it has vanished

We reach for a seat

With eyes wide open

And pounding heart

We awaken to what can be

We make a fresh start

Back on track

We start our day

Acknowledge our learnings

Soon on our way

We make the time

To fix the bike

And travel to interests

That are nearby

Life unfolds as it will

It is up to us

To adjust, embrace

And fulfill

Diverse group of people standing together outdoors.

We are today

We are today

Influenced by our past

And with a vision to the future

We can champion

Our life as we wish it to be cast

For the past teaches us

That at our core

It is our love for each other

That causes us to act

As we do

To laugh, embrace and question

That which is not always understood

It is trust that keeps our hearts and minds

united

when doubt threatens to unravel

It is then we must listen to the small, but powerful voice within

that reminds us

It is as it always was

Let it be

It is compassion that allows us to start each day anew

With a fresh perspective and intention

And in consideration of others

Live our lives authentically

With friends, fathers, and brothers

mothers, sisters, and others

Yellow leaf on sunlit pavement at sunset.

Making sense of it all

The café bustles

Traffic to and through

Children waving their pastries

Their parents managing the flow

Servers delivering orders

As a businessman takes in the view

Questioning whether he should quickly

Pivot and jump the queue

And I looking for inspiration

A spark to ignite many a thought

That I will weave into

A story, a cadence

A challenge fought

A dinner, an event, or laughter

Of significance, or the mundane

All having value and merit

All that rises and wanes

The sun shines outside

The rain having finally stopped

Pedestrian traffic picks up its clip

A dry morning with the usual drill

One must sail one’s ship

A well of ideas vie for attention

The stories I will tell

In the coming days

Some will lend support

Lend Insight to others

And to me a breath of relief

And comfort

As I share

 what I’ve contained.
