About me

I was raised in rural Indiana where “go out and play” implied staying within a half mile or so of home to be able to hear the bell atop the garage ring ~ signaling it was time to come home for dinner. Childhood was carefree with summers filled with swimming, church camp, exploration in the woods, and weeks with my siblings and cousins at my grandparents’ farm in Ohio.

Upon graduating from high school I moved to Chapel Hill, North Carolina to attend the University of North Carolina. There, I studied political science and international relations. Following my graduation from UNC -Chapel Hill, I obtained a master’s in international management at the Thunderbird School of Global Management in Glendale, Arizona. The in-between years were spent working in Washington, D.C. in market research and international finance and later in Indianapolis, Indiana in marketing research and management consulting.

I have two children, both of whom never fail to amaze me with their insight, humor, intelligence and compassion. After a fulfilling career, I am now choosing to devote more time to my poetry per se and it’s use as a therapeutic tool in volunteer opportunities, as well as being more available to my family and volunteer interests.

My poems are written for living. They explore the beauty we encounter in nature and others, and in art. They also address life, occasional frustrations, transitions, and unexpected health challenges. Like others, I’ve experienced healthcare situations not well understood, specifically, Parkinson’s Disease.

I address the mosaic of experiences life presents and are reflected through such emotions as determination, acknowledgment, management, and / or the joy of either conquering, or accepting and moving forward. For those people living with Parkinson’s, it is my hope and intention that you can find community, connection and comfort through these poems.

Thank you for visiting.
