A Life Rejoiced
In the shadows of the sadness
In the mourning of our loss
Lay the memories of her goodness
Found in photos we come across
If we give ourselves a minute
We can see her shining face
I am with you and always will be
God has given me this grace
In the sun that shines down upon us
In her eagerness to care for others
We can hear her gentle giggle
Observe her kindness as a mother
When the heartbreak of her passing
Seems more than one can bear
One can imagine her calmly saying

Let’s rejoice in what we shared
God has called home an angel
In our sadness we know not why
Perhaps to continue her gifts, her legacy
But today we mourn, and cry
Though when this day has passed

God has blessed us as a couple
in a myriad of ways
In the days that are cloudy
pressures from finance and more
we have been there for each other
With devotion as our core
And in those tender moments
Where memories take me back
To our youth and early days together
I touch your soft skin, I hear your laugh
In our trips we’ve enjoyed each other
U.S., Europe the Caribbean too
Soon we will build more memories in Paris
And dance more romantic dances too
God has blessed us with each other
Held us in his embrace when sad
Similar to your sweet voice
When calling on the phone
And so I am reminded
Of our love, it’s endurance too
And how it has never failed us
